Connie's interest in botanical art began as a volunteer docent for children at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. This experience introduced her to the world of botanical artist Maria Sibylla Merian and enrollment in the Minnesota School of Botanical Art soon followed.

Her experience as an intensive care nurse has been the perfect backdrop for the attention to detail and critical skills of observation used in creating contemporary botanical art. Her current passion is painting with watercolor on vellum, which she likens to ice skating. “The goal is simply to stay up on the surface and not fall through."

She and her husband have three grown children and live in Saint Paul, Minnesota with their dog, Griffin.
